Sander’s abduction launched a nationwide media frenzy when it was discovered she had been working on the side as porn model Zoey Zane.

Sander, a student at Butler Community College in El Dorado, KS, vanished the weekend after Thanksgiving. She was last seen leaving the Retreat bar with a man later identified as 24-year-old Israel Mireles. Sander’s body was discovered this past week 50 miles east of El Dorado alongside a highway. Mireles vanished along with his 16-year-old girlfriend, Victoria Martens, their primary suspect in the murder. He is suspected to be heading for Mexico, where he has family ties, if he has not already crossed the border.

After Sander’s disappearance, rumors began to circulate on the Internet that the Kansas student had been working on the side as an Internet porn star. Photos of Zoey Zane seen on YourDailyGirls.com (since removed) resembled the missing college student and Nikki Watson, a friend of Sander’s told the Associated Press that the two were indeed the same person. “She enjoyed it. She is a young teenage girl and she wanted to be in the movies… she needed the extra money,” Watson told the AP.

Some of the photos of Zoey Zane on YourDailyGirls.com show her posing in nude, lesbian-themed photos with two other women in Wizard of Oz costumes. The main web site with explicit photos and videos of Zane, www.zoeyzane.com, was taken down when rumors about Sander’s double life began to circulate.

Despite media attention surrounding Sanders’ double life, Police Chief Tom Boren insists there is no evidence to suggest her Internet persona had anything to do with Sanders’ disappearance.

The www.zoeyzane.com web site was re-launched this week with a message regarding Sander’s murder. The new home page features photos of missing suspect Israel Mireles, asking the public to “help bring this man in for questioning!”

The owners of the web site are also offering a reward of $3,773 for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of Mireles. If Mireles is caught by police, the money will be donated to Sander’s family or a charity of their choice.

A message on the web site calls Sander a “beautiful, young spunky girl” with “blue eyes that could light up a room”. “She had just started college and was looking forward to getting her degree so she could move back home to Texas where all her friends and family were,” the message continues.

In addition to the plea for help in locating and capturing Mireles, the web site features a scathing message to the media regarding press coverage of Sander’s disappearance and murder.

It truly saddens us to see, in this day and age, that we still live in a society that ridicules a woman for doing something that is completely legal. There was some incorrect information leaked to the press on Wednesday by an unknown individual named “David Thomas” claiming to have information about Emily’s huge “Porn” career.

A viewing for Sander will be held on Wednesday at the Carlson Funeral home in El Dorado with the funeral scheduled for the following day, according to KSN.com. Vigils for the slain student will be held Monday night at 6:30pm at Butler Community College and on Tuesday at 6:30pm in El Dorado.
