Another Porn Party Goes Bust: This Time Big Daddy McNasty gets Shanked by a Party Promoter

Porn Valley- Producer/director Jennifer James was on my KSEX show a couple of weeks ago talking about her drama with party promoter Eddie Lopez.

No sooner was it all out of her mouth that James was back in the thick of it. On that show, James had been talking about a party/shoot scheduled for Friday night, December 14 in Alhambra, California. [Home of Phil Spector by the way.]

It had to be cancelled and here’s what happened.

“It was supposed to take place over at a club called Ambiant,” says James. “From previous meetings the management knew what we were going to do and thought it was wonderful and were looking forward to it. The club manager Marcillo was happy about everything and looking forward to it.

“We got there the day before the shoot to do a last minute run-through,” James continues. “Nothing had been done. No lighting had been set up. Nothing had been arranged.”

James also noted that Marcillo was decidedly uncommunicative during this meeting.

“He was acting oddly- he had his arms crossed- I thought we were in trouble.”

According to what James would later find out, some people had talked in Marcillo’s ear and told him the show was nasty and he could get in trouble for putting on such an event.

“Basically he panicked,” James assesses. “The day before the shoot, he shut us down and said we can’t come in here. The guy who set up the venue was none other than Louis DePaz.”

[DePaz’s name was brought up often during James’ appearance on KSEX.]

The show, which was to be hosted by Big Daddy McNasty, a Blues Brothers type character, is described by James as a bump and grind, T&A show.

“It’s a porn dating game type of thing; it’s all fun,” explains James. “And Chris [Big Daddy’s alter ego] is a good guy. I like him.”

James makes it clear that it was Big Daddy who brought in DePaz to arrange the show.

“He said there’d be no problem and everything would be wonderful. They went ahead and ran an ad. I guess they had people come Friday night to pay to see our show and didn’t see it. It was a pretty weird scene. I had to assume that this thing was a scam from the beginning. I’m not sure if anyone had the intention of running the party.”

What made it even stranger, according to James, was that the ad was run without a specific date attached to it.

“That could have been meant for any time,” she states. “I’ve never seen a press release put out without a date on it. A flyer was put together with pictures of the porn girls we were going to put out there. But what’s the point of putting out an invite if you don’t have a date on it?”

James said she was trying to find a strip club that would accept the venue and shoot the show before AEE.

According to James, Big Daddy had previously shot a test pilot of this show.

“He came to me because he knew I had done broadcast stuff for television and had a lot of connections for distribution. He asked me if I would be interested in doing it. I took a look at it. It’s not exactly the kind of thing I normally do but I thought it was cute and there was some potential to it.

“With the right production company behind it, the right details and the right distribution, this could sell. That’s why I got involved.”

Hence James is now a co-owner and co-producer of the show. Besides, said James, she’s a little burned out on porn, so the timing was right.

“It’s kind of fun and T&A. Maybe I’ve been too high- falutin’ all of these years and need to shoot the silly crap. I probably could make a lot more money doing that.”

According to James, the show would be titled Date with a Nasty Girl, hosted by McNasty and co-hosted by Michelle McLaren, Nick Manning’s girl friend.

“The idea for it is to be totally live and whatever mistakes are made, we’re going to shoot it. This would be truly live television and lot of fun without any redeeming social value.”

On a humorous side note, James said DePaz has been text messaging her business partner Susan Olson telling her how gorgeous she is and that he wants to be with her.

“He keeps sending the same message- it’s so funny. Even after she called him, screamed at him and took his fuckin’ head off.”

So with all of this DePaz BTS going on, I ask James why he was brought in.

“When Chris came to us he said, look, I have a deal with a Louis. Me and Susan, especially, told him don’t do business with this guy. We know this guy. This is going to be a disaster and his answer to us was, I’m sorry I’ve already made a deal with him and I’m going to stick by my word. You got to respect the guy for giving his word. In our business that’s almost unheard of. I like Chris. He has some integrity.”

Again James who never goes out looking for trouble always seems to find it. And drama seems to have James on speed dial.

“This is amazing,” says James. “I’m not a drug addict. I’m not strung out on heroin or alcohol.”

Which is even funnier because AVN once told James they didn’t like covering her shoots because they weren’t exciting enough.

“They told me your sets are run too smooth and are boring,” laughs James.

James recalls with a chuckle the time Luke Ford was on her set, Memoirs of a Modern Day Geisha, and went home with a story about there being rampant Satanism going on.

“One of these Oriental girls wore a pentagram tattooed on her hip and she was reading a book about witchcraft,” James recalls. “I guess that’s what started it. I’m going wow, I’m making a movie and didn’t know there was a bunch of devil worshippers on my movie set. It’s amazing what you miss. And I thought I was making a porn movie about a bunch of Oriental girls.”
