Las Vegas- Mimi Miyagi calls to apologize about not returning a call sooner.

She says she was involved in two traffic accidents within two weeks- one including an Asian driver. Which sounds pretty funny coming from Miyagi since she was born in the Philippines. Miyagi’s talking while making jambalaya. She loves to cook and she’s giving me the play-by-play of the ingredients.

“I’m like the biggest gourmet chef,” she laughs. “I love to cook.”

In January, Miyagi, www.mimimiyagi.com enters the Legends of Erotica- an event scheduled for Friday, January 11 at Showgirl Video, 631 S. Las Vegas Blvd.

Regarding the car accidents, Miyagi tells you Las Vegas is not the place to be if you want to avoid those.

“Christmas time is really crazy,” she says. “It’s always the holidays, man.”

On Friday, Miyagi was on the freeway, trying to pump the brakes on her Jaguar and the car wouldn’t stop.

“I’m like oh my God- it wouldn’t stop dude- this is not happening. I hit him. But he says it’s just a rental car, he didn’t care. So I called my insurance and got the date set to fix my car.”

The other accident occurred when Miyagi had her car in the shop for scheduled maintenance.

“They gave me a loaner car- the lug nuts on the left wheel were loose and I lost control of the car,” she says. “I flattened the tire and some nice old man came along and said you’re so lucky. He was whoever put them in there fucked up.”

Miyagi wound up hitting a traffic island with the old guy helping her.

Miyagi has also had to deal with Child Protection Service issues but the case was eventually dropped.

“I was being accused of neglecting my kid,” she states. “I had to bring evidence that I’m not. It’s, like, I don’t know who’s worse, me or Britney Spears.”

According to Miyagi her ex was the one wrecking the havoc.

“It’s like when you’re pissed off and divorced, yadda, yadda. What are you going to do?”

Miyagi’s also explaining that she just had a Botox job anticipating a TV pilot which she’ll be shooting.

“I can’t say too much more about that,” she continues. “You know how Hollywood is. It’s like The View meets The Simple Life. We’re not trained interviewers but we try our best. There will be funny stuff and we’ll have celebrities come in. As long as I get a paycheck I don’t care.”

“I don’t know how many seasons we’re going to do,” she adds. “I’m signing on for one season and we’ll see. Have you ever heard of porn stars having their own show on mainstream TV? It’s either going to be on Spike or VH-1.

“The guy who wrote the latest book about Houdini is the one putting it together. He’s telling me don’t tell anybody but I found out that Houdini was a spy. Whatever, who cares? Julia Child was one, too.” [Apparently working for the OSS.]

“How do I know that you’re not a spy?” I ask Miyagi. “You’re taking all these trips to the Philippines. Maybe you’re an undercover agent.”

Miyagi tells me that there’s now a lot of Muslims living in Mindanao where she’s from.

“I always ask people you want to go to the Philippines with me,” says Miyagi. “They’re like, hell, no! I ain’t getting my head chopped off or eaten like a dog!”

Miyagi also got a ton of press last year when she ran for governor of Nevada. But she seems surprised when I point this out.

“Well, I’ve got a kid,” she explains. “I have to help her with school and her homework. I’m a mom, dude. If they asked for an interview, I did it.”

Regarding the Legends of Erotica event, Miyagi, who came into the adult business when she was 18, says that a neurologist friend of hers is going to make the induction.

“We met one day- I was having PMS-I said I’m in pain, my head hurts. He prescribed something and we’ve been friends ever since.”

While we’re chatting, Miyagi’s also keeping another conversation going in the background. It gets loud.

“We sound like Jews, huh?” she laughs. “Well, I grew up with one, I can’t help it. Every time I meet a guy, he goes, I can’t take this! Well, I go I can’t help it because I grew up like a Jew. What am I going to do about it?”

“What was the Jew part about you growing up?” she’s asked.

“From Friday sundown to Saturday sunset, we couldn’t do anything,” she says. “We couldn’t watch TV. All we did was pray, sing songs and do these things with church. We were Jews for Jesus. We’d go to church every Saturday- that was like the thing. And we never ate pork, and if you ate pork it was oh my God! You’re dirty!”

Miyagi says her daughter’s attending Catholic school.

“My God, when I ran for governor I hated to go pick her up,” Miyagi continues. “Because people would come up to me: what are you going to do about this? What are you going to do about that? What do you think about this? And then her teacher goes, is your mom running for governor?

“My daughter comes home and goes, my teacher asked is your mom running for governor? And I got death threats and all sorts of weird stuff happening to me- my tires blown up- because I was a Republican. So I went and changed and became a Libertarian. So now no one bothers me.”

“You ran as a Republican, though?”

“Well, it was more controversial,” Miyagi replies. “That was the good part about it. If I ran as a Democrat they’d go, ah, that’s boring. There’s like nothing to talk about. If I was a Republican, they’d go, dude! You’re a porn star! Then my publicist had a whole bunch of answers and it was good.”

Miyagi explains that when she first got into the adult industry she began getting involved with charity work.

“I never told anybody about that,” she states. “But we built a school [in the Philippines]. And we have some factories and stuff like that. The school is first to third grade and our next goal, we’re building roads so kids don’t have to walk through the mud. It’s in the jungle.”

Miyagi just returned from there.

“I took notes on what we need,” she explains. “Then I have to make sure it all gets done.”

Miyagi goes on to say that when she first came over here from the Philippines, she herself needed money for school and started stripping.

“That’s what got me interested in schools for needy children. So I kept sending money over there.”

“So you stripped for needy children?”

“But nobody knew,” she replies. “It says in the bible when you do charity things like that you’re not supposed to say anything. We were always like that.”

Miyagi mentions that she’s also got “a big hole” in her stomach from stress which has limited her activities. So now she has elected to be more public about her charity work Miyagi starts telling me about the all consuming paperwork and different forms she has to fill out.

“But I’m boring you!” she laughs.

“You should have seen my last interview,” I tell her. “This woman was playing with my dick. Whoa, that was a Christmas present I didn’t expect. So when you’re talking about charity work it’s slightly different than having your dick played with.”

“It’s so funny,” Miagi continues with her story. “When I come back to the states I play this porn star chick. Then when I go to the Philippines everybody respects me. My family’s totally respected. I have security guards. We have two houses- one on the beach and another one being built so I can retire there. Right now what I want to do over there are the roads and bridges. And this is why I need an American charitable foundation- I want to make the school up to the twelfth grade so the kids won’t be I finished third grade, now what do I do? I feel bad for these kids. Where are they going to go?”

Miyagi recalls her last trek through the jungle.

“Oh my God, the mosquito bites- I had blisters,” she says.

With being in the adult business 16 years, Miyagi recalls her first scene quite well.

“It was with Ed Powers- he’s my friend- I love Ed Powers,” she comments.

“He helped me buy a car. I didn’t have one and I went to school by bus. It would take me an hour and a half to get to school every day. He’s like, well, if I help you get a car, will you do a movie. I’m, like, cool, I will. Then I wanted to do good things because I felt bad for doing porn.”

In the time she was in, Miyagi thinks she might have done 80 movies.

“I’ve seen so many different things written,” she adds. “Some people have said I did 200, but if I did, I would know it.”
