Iowa- [onlinecasinoadvisory.com]- While spending a night at the casino resort which employed him, a worker decided to test the limits of the service his hotel offered its guests, bringing the concept of room service to a new standard.
Neil Jorgensen, an employee of Riverside Casino and Golf Resort in Riverside, Iowa, was recently awarded a free night’s stay and $100 gift certificate for his performance over his first year of work at the casino.
Jorgensen, 62, helped himself to many of the amenities available, culminating in repeated calls for one which was not: the delivery of a prostitute to his room.
Jorgensen had dinner in the resort’s restaurant, and during the course of the meal drank several mixed drinks and a bottle of wine. Upon returning to his room, he called the managers at the front desk and asked insistently for a call girl.
When told that service was not available, he began calling other hotels in the area, asking for prostitutes. Hotel workers went to his complimentary room to ask that he desist from further calls, only to have him answer the door naked, apparently not wanting to waste time if his entreaties were answered.
Riverside Casino fired Jorgensen the next day for inexcusable behavior. Jorgensen protested, demanding either his job back or full unemployment compensation. His defense was a two-pronged one: he claimed that, as the casino billed itself as “a Las Vegas-style resort”, he thought he could act as in Las Vegas; and he “was absolutely plowed”, having been overserved in the casino’s restaurant.
Judge Terence Nice turned down Jorgensen’s claim for benefits. Jorgensen was apparently ignorant of the fact that prostitution is illegal in Clark County, including Las Vegas; and that calls to hotel management for hookers in Vegas would get the same response.
