DAYTONA BEACH — Five people were arrested — including a hotel owner — when a Spring Break bikini contest at the Desert Inn got out of hand, police said.
Dennis Devlin, 50, was charged with disorderly conduct Saturday after police said he argued with them about nudity during a bikini contest at about 5 p.m. at his beachside hotel. A DJ at the hotel also was arrested when he was found with a small amount of marijuana, police said.
Three women who took off items of clothing in front of police and a crowd of about 400 people also were charged with disorderly conduct. Police said undercover officers were placed among the crowd to watch for unlawful activity.
All were processed on the misdemeanor charge and released after posting $253 bond.
Devlin last made headlines in 2002 when his conviction of lewd and lascivious assault on a child was overturned. The conviction stemming from a 1995 trial — which included a prison sentence and banishment from the beachside — was thrown out when the accuser recanted statements he made to police.
