We can’t seem to agree on what to do. Nonetheless, the Vizier’s got so more gossip. He’s telling me about this one old timer who used to run a one-stop and is now directing and is selling scenes. The old timer is shooting a girl-girl movie.
“The people he’s shooting the movie for have got a noose around his balls and want it for a $1.98,” states The Vizier. Of course, The Vizier exaggerating, but he’s making the point that this is a cheap movie.
“But because of the budget he has to offer girls $500 each to eat pussy,” The Vizier continues.
“It’s two hours worth of work. So he’s calling the agents. The agents are saying the girls won’t do it for $500 each. He asked the agents if the girls are working this month. He’s told no, that there aren’t that many people shooting. The old timer asks why the girls won’t come down in price. He’s told because that’s their price.
“So let me get this straight, they’re not working to begin with, but won’t work for $500 because that’s below their price,” The Vizier repeats. “Just to be sure about what he’s hearing, the old timer asks if that means these girls would rather not work. He’s told correct.”
The same director is shooting a couple of weeks ago, according to The Vizier.
“He needs another couple, and this husband-wife team happen to be outside. They’re friends of one of the girls on the set. The couple come in the house and the Old Timer offers a price.
“The girl goes, no, no- I used to be a Vivid girl. We get $3,000. So her boyfriend goes, honey, have we worked this month? I don’t think so. Let’s do it. So they’re starting to argue about this. The girls storms out. They’ve got no money but she refuses to work. The husband is figuring out we’ve got rent, let’s take the money.”
According to The Vizier, the old timer is getting product in trade on a bill. No money, mind you. Just product which he’s trying to dump. He’s getting 50 cents as his best offer and he can’t sell the product at that price.
“He’s just disgusted because he doesn’t know how to make a living any more in the business,” The Vizier points out.
According to The Vizier, he’s heard that Sin City may be downsizing their operation and moving out of their present building once their lease is up this summer.
Another porn company which has been borrowing against credit cards to meet payroll is now on a COD with all it’s customers.
The Vizier also hears that another industry veteran has closed his doors.
“Phillips put it to Jonathan Resnick of Future Works,” states The Vizier. “It was over the DVD licensing fees. Resnick, a duplicator, wasn’t paying it. So they came in with their attorneys. Rumor is that he’s stuck with between 500,000 to a million pieces of goods. Phillips inventoried it all, it has to be sold and the money goes to Phillips.”
“Resnick started out as a duplicator, then started to buy scenes, made comps and sold them under Future Works.,” continues The Vizier. “And to put pressure on him, Phillips named all of his accounts in the adult business in a lawsuit. Phillips has warned the adult business about this for years. I think they also went after Factory who made a deal. The payment of these fines are hefty- something like $600,000 to $800,000. They’re talking about 2 cents times millions of discs over a period of years. Phillips has a worldwide patent and they want their licensing fees.”
The Vizier’s also hearing that 80% of agency bookings are now for the Internet.
