Michigan- The woman allegedly paid $150 for sex by the husband of U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., turned herself in to authorities Tuesday to face misdemeanor prostitution charges.
According to court officials, Alycia Martin came in to 52-4 District Court in Troy at about 3 p.m. Martin, 20, of Westland failed to show up for a hearing last week and an arrest warrant was issued by Judge William Bolle.
Martin has hired an attorney, Frank Cusumano. He could not immediately be reached for comment. Neither could assistant city attorney Robert Davisson.
Martin allegedly was paid by Tom Athans, a 46-year-old radio talk-show executive, for sex in a Troy hotel room in February. Police conducting a prostitution sting at the hotel stopped Athans as he left. He admitted that he paid Martin for sex.
Athans, who married Stabenow in 2003, was not charged with soliciting prostitution because he agreed to testify against Martin. It is not known if Athans was in court today.
