Michigan — Grand Rapids Attorney Paul J. Denenfeld admits his 60-year-old client provided two adolescent girls with a sexually explicit movie, but he argues the film was meant as an educational tool.

Gratiot County District Judge James B. Mackie didn’t buy Denenfeld’s defense of Dale J. Wiggins.

Mackie concluded a Wednesday preliminary hearing by ruling that sufficient evidence exists for the Vestaburg man to face charges in Circuit Court.

Wiggins must appear May 27 for arraignment in the higher court, where he will face two counts each of child sexually abusive activity and distributing obscene matter to children.

Chief Assistant Prosecutor Kristin M. Bakker alleges Wiggins rented the movie and let the girls, 13 and 11, watch it on a portable DVD player while he drove them around then “propositioned them to engage in some of that activity for him.”
