Arizona- A photography teacher at Arcadia High School was placed on administrative leave after he was accused of showing pornography on a projection system in the classroom Monday.
Arcadia Principal Anne Marie Woolsey sent a letter home to parents Wednesday that said school officials heard about the incident after the school day had ended and her staff had contacted all parents of the students involved.
A Scottsdale Unified School District spokeswoman said the district’s policies prevented her from commenting on personnel-related issues.
Woolsey’s letter said the district office was investigating the incident.
Phoenix Police Department is investigating. Its report wasn’t immediately available. Arcadia is at 4703 E. Indian School Road.
Parent Allison Warren said her 14-year-old daughter was in the photography class and had been in contact with Arcadia officials.
“I had a long conversation what they were going to do to make this campus safer,” Warren said.
Warren said she isn’t satisfied with how officials have handled the situation.
“What I would like to see them do is double-check their system. They could randomly check computers that teachers use to make sure pornography isn’t being accessed,” Warren said.
Warren said she was told that the teacher was using his own personal laptop, not a district-issued computer.
“I’m frustrated that they didn’t send out a notice saying that nobody is allowed to bring their personal computers to campus,” she said.
