Bastrop, La. – The owner of the Red Door has an arraignment date set but is not waiting for it in the Morehouse Jail.
“She bonded out last night,” Sheriff Mike Tubbs said.
Lori Tremaine, 39, was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with six counts of obscenity. Her bond was set for $30,000.
An arraignment date has been set for November 18.
These charges came after undercover agents purchased several movies from the store and turned them in to the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s office.
On Friday, Sept. 19, an investigation team with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at the Red Door and seized 916 pornographic DVDs.
Before Tremaine was arrested Monday, a burglary was reported at her store to the Bastrop Police Department.
“(They) pulled the vent off the roof and went in the hole through there,” Det. Capt. Curtis Stephenson said. “They busted the ceiling tile out.”
He also said nothing was said to be missing, and there are no suspects at this time.
The Red Door opened in Bastrop on Sept. 12. On Sept. 11, the City Council voted to revoke The Red Door’s license, obtained Sept. 5 without the board’s knowledge; Mayor Clarence Hawkins vetoed the action.
