Cincinnati attorney Louis Sirkin was on a list of lawyers in the “Encyclopedia of the First Amendment.”

The two volume set published by Washington-based CQ Press is a history of the First Amendment, with 1,400 entries defining the freedoms guaranteed under the amendment and the many who have argued about those freedoms over the years.

Sirkin, 68, a nationally known First Amendment lawyer, has appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court, represented Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and defended the Contemporary Arts Center after it displayed Robert Mapplethorpe’s photos in 1990.

“I’m really excited about it,” Sirkin said. “It’s important to get recognized for something I really believe in.”
