Seattle- The trial for Jack Venice aka Christopher Jack Reid begins today.

Reid, an adult film actor, allegedly sexually assaulted a woman sleeping at the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority Sept. 13, 2007.

After turning himself in days after the alleged attack, Reid pled not guilty to charges of second-degree rape, a Class A felony that carries a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $50,000 fine. He also pled not guilty to a charge of first-degree burglary, two charges of residential burglary and a charge of attempted residential burglary.

The minimum sentence for second-degree rape is about six and half years if there is no prior conviction.

While in Pullman, Reid allegedly broke into three sororities and a fraternity, along with former WSU student Kyle M. Schott. WSU Student Conduct has since expelled Schott.

Before the alleged rape, the two walked into a house party near Campus and Ruby streets. Reid, known as “Jack Venice” in the adult film industry, allegedly bragged to people there that he traveled the country, getting girls to have sex with him on camera. He allegedly offered one man $500 to use his bed for that purpose.

When Reid pulled out his penis, house residents kicked him and Schott out.

The two then allegedly attempted to break into Alpha Gamma Rho. They then allegedly broke into Delta Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, and Kappa Alpha Theta, where Reid allegedly spooned and sexually touched a woman.

When Reid asked Schott to hand him a condom, the woman woke up and the two fled. Reid did not have intercourse with the woman, but under Washington state law, an act of penetration is an act of rape.

The woman was not a member of the sorority. She reported the alleged rape about 4:30 a.m.

The Daily Evergreen does not name victims of suspected sexual assault.

Reid has waived his right to a speedy trial four times.

The trial will be held at the Whitman County Courthouse in Colfax. Superior Court Judge David Frazier will preside over the case.
