COBB COUNTY, Ga. (MyFOX Atlanta) — A Cobb County magician who entertains kids is set to appear in court Tuesday morning on federal child pornography charges. Investigators said they found thousands of pictures of young boys on the home computer of Jeffrey Wasley.
Jeffrey Wasley can be seen on his Web site performing for children as Magic Jeff. The 37-year-old will make a different kind of appearance in federal court where he’ll be arraigned on child pornography charges.
Cobb County police said a Kennesaw Target store’s surveillance video shows Wasley after he allegedly approached a 7-year-old boy and his 4-year-old brother in the restroom in July.
Detectives said Wasley allegedly tucked in the children’s shirt and possibly took a photo of one of them while the victim used the bathroom.
After his arrest, investigators said they searched Wasley’s home where they allegedly found 5,000 child porn images on his computer, as well as four video files showing young boys urinating in public bathrooms.
According to federal prosecutors, one of those files shows the camera rotates showing Wasley as the operator.
Investigators are still trying to identify all of the victims.
“He is an active member of his church. He’s a magician who is normally around children. So that draws some concern for us as officers,” said Cobb County Police’s Cassie Reece.
Last July, one of Wasley’s neighbors was giving him the benefit of the doubt and called him a great guy and a family man.
“If the guy is guilty, prosecute him, punish him. I’m all for that. But it the guy’s not guilty, I don’t want his reputation destroyed by this,” he said.
If convicted, Wasley could face up to 70 years in prison.
