Here’s an interview I had with Shane last year in which we covered some of the basics of her career:

Porn Valley- Saturday afternoon I had a chat with Shane. THE Shane of Shane’s World who’s now a mother of two kids and is in the real estate business.

She took a break from vacuuming and getting the Christmas boxes down from the rafters in her garage.

“I have a regular job now- scary isn’t it?” she laughs. “This is pretty much my first real job unless you consider dancing. And I’m still married- not an easy task to pull that one off. Got to brag about that one.”

Asked if she was settled into mom-ism, Shane says far from it.

“I wish I was- it’s difficult having had one lifestyle and just completely turn to another. It’s so funny.”

Not any more, but from the time she was 19, Shane would take a trip to Vegas once a year to strip with her girlfriend.

“That was just to escape the kids and the husband but you know how old I am [turning 38],” she continues. “I feel foolish. I’m older.”

Shane says the temptation to get back in shape and go on the road to strip still lurks, however, but not to perform in front of the camera again.

“The MILF market is very lucrative,” I tell her. She roars.

“That’s just so funny- but my husband always says if we can get Janine with me and him, we can all make a movie,” she says.

This year Shane got nominated for Best Gonzo Release with her movie Shane and Friends on Sunshine Video’s, www.sunshinedvd.com OGV label. It was shot at Lake Mead.

“That’s pretty funny,” she says. “I guess because it’s been so long since I shot something. And it ended up being two parts. I really wasn’t doing much of anything and it sounded like fun. It was good- my husband and I both did it. We had a good time.”

According to Shane, she got approached by Bob East who’s now with Sunshine.

“They asked me if I wanted to do it,” she explained. “I told them I wasn’t going to sign a contract to make a certain amount a year or anything. So I came up with the idea of a house boat trip and make two movies out of it. I haven’t been around crazy, naked people for awhile. I’ve been doing the mom-thing so this added some spice.”

Shane’s not ruling out more projects, though, but says there are no definite plans right now.

The last time I saw her was at an Adultcon, and Shane says it’s probably been nearly three years since she’s been out of the business.

“My son is 7 1/2 and I didn’t shoot too much after he was born,” she says.

“Maybe a couple of movies but that is it. It just got different for me due to probably me not being the same age as the girls- not because of any insecurities- but I just felt different asking these young, sweet innocent children to do stuff. It wasn’t the same. And then my battles in court haven’t been fun. I certainly didn’t enjoy that part of it. I went through a huge lawsuit and it went through both of my pregnancies. It was not fun.”

The lawsuit was over Shane’s World, and the fact that Shame pretty much had the company pulled out from under her feet. It goes back to at least 1999 when she was first pregnant.

“It’s still not resolved- technically,” Shane notes. “Three years into it we came up with a contract and signed it but now that’s not being honored. All I can say is I don’t want to fight any more. It’s just not worth it to me.

“I’d rather concentrate on my kids and my family than have that take up one more minute of my life. I’m done. And I really had to let go because I was just angry and pissed off and sad. But I have to just put up my hands and say fuck it. It didn’t strike me as odd this happening but it certainly struck me. Whatever, it’s all in the past. I try not to think about it or go on the website. I don’t look it up.”

“Your company pretty much got taken away from you?”

“Pretty much in a nutshell, I guess you can say that,” Shane replies. “It was me being dumb and trusting. I was irresponsible is what it comes down to. I didn’t see it coming, that’s for sure.”

Shane, of course, became a household industry name when she first hooked up with Seymore Butts.

“That was a long time ago,” she laughs. “That was fun- I had a good time. Even now I get nervous when I drop my kids off at school- oh God, I hope no one recognizes me. It’s happened once, but that was at an airport. So that doesn’t count. But that was it.”

At the time she met Seymore, Shane was dancing at Bare Elegance.

“And he came cruising in,” she recalls. “We exchanged numbers, hooked up and the rest is history.”

“I’m the great romantic- tell me what led up to the ceremonial exchange of numbers,” I tell her.

“You’re going to think I’m kooky,” Shane answers. “But a couple of years prior to that I kept having this same dream. Every time in the dream I’d wake up at the same moment. It was me in this strip club and it was really foggy so I take it there was a fog machine. I heard the door and I saw this guy come walking towards me.”

“So over at Bare Elegance I was sitting towards the back and I heard something at the door- here came Adam [Butts] and it was like a flash of my dream.

“It was really weird. And every time I woke up from the same dream I’d tell my girlfriend about it that I swear this is going to happen. I can tell it’s going to be either the man I marry and I’m with the rest of my life, or someone who’s going to teach me some huge life lesson and totally changes my life. That happened and I didn’t put it together until afterwards.”

According to Shane, after Butts came into the club- for real- he went to the bar, ordered a drink and asked the bartender about her. The bartender told her Butts had been asking about her.

“I was like really? I never dated anybody I met at work. I worked there for three years- never, ever. That was my rule, never date anyone you meet at work but I broke my rule. It happens every time I break my rules. I had a rule- never date a musician. I dated one and ended up marrying him.”

“We exchanged numbers,” she says continuing with her story. “I called him the next day and asked him if he wanted to go out for ice cream. I know that’s totally lame but that’s what I did. He talked me into a movie and dinner but we never made it to the movie. We started playing pool and I was having fun. I’m a dirty pool player. I bend over in front of the shot.

“After a little while of that we just went straight to his house. I think I moved in that week. I think he was shooting a week later. He woke up one day and said I have to run to the store to get some videotape. ‘You know how I told you I shoot those bikini contests? Well sometimes I shoot porn. I’m shooting today and talent should be here soon. So just let them know I’ll be right back.’

“I was like, what!” laughs Shane. “He dropped the bomb and left. Then Toy was the one who came knocking on the door, chewing bubblegum. I said, oh my God. Adam’s not here- he’ll be back any minute. She’s like I’ll get my stuff out of my car. By the way, you know who I’m doing today? I was like, oh my God, no. But don’t you?”

“And you had no idea of any of this?”

“No,” says Shane. “Come on. I just met him and moved in. It was crazy. But I was intrigued. I watched. It was interesting. I didn’t mind it at all, obviously.”

It wasn’t until she and Butts got approached by the original owners of New Machine that Shane broke into the adult performing ranks.

“They had the the idea of shooting interactive CD Rom,” she recalls. “It was going to cost a lot of money so I volunteered for the job as long as I could wear a wig and sunglasses. That was pretty much the first stuff I shot in front of a camera.”

Shane figures she may have done between 12 to 20 movies with Butts. She can’t recall.

“I can barely remember it was so long ago,” she says.

“What were the circumstances after you proposed to him on stage at the AVN awards?” she’s asked.

“It just didn’t work out,” she states. “He got kind of, you know, a lot of family issues going on. I don’t know. He just wasn’t as sweet and nice. The honeymoon stage was over. And I’m a loon. It takes a special person to appreciate me, and Adam just wasn’t that person. He’s a great guy, love him to death. He just wasn’t the person.”

After the break up, Shane stayed single for more than a year.

“When you’re at that age it seems like a long time,” she comments. “I actually got to the point where I was really happy being single, and the last thing I wanted to do was meet someone. So, of course, I did. That was when I was scheduled to be Debbie in Debbie Does Dallas when Vivid was doing that remake.

“My husband [she married an identical twin] who was my then-boyfriend was freaking out over that whole thing. So I pretty much had to make a choice- be active in the industry or end the relationship. I opted for the relationship to see where it would go. Lo and behold, here we are.”

The way Shane’s World got started, Shane says after she and Butts broke up he still wanted to sign her to a contract.

“Which I was going to do,” she adds. “That’s why I went on a trip to Costa Rica and came to my senses. When I came back I told him there was no way I could still work for him because I was too heartbroken. He asked me what I was going to do and I was kind of toying with the idea of shooting my own line but half of me didn’t mean it.

“When I told him that he got really pissed off and laughed in my face. He told me I’d never be able to do it that I’m just a little guppy and everyone else are sharks. I guess he challenged me in a way and I was determined. I met a few people from the bachelor party that Yvonne and I had that were willing to put some money towards the company. So I just started it and shot Shane’s World: Road Trip. It flew ever since.”

Shane did 18 of those. Then it got nasty.

“It wasn’t any fun,” she says. “You remember Sky [Lopez]? She had a son and I was trying to adopt him. And I kind of panicked thinking there was no way the courts would let me adopt a child. I wanted to hurry up and not have a company in my name. That’s kind of how it all happened. I was in a desperate situation.

“At least that’s how it felt to me. I wanted to be a mom more than anything and I was having a very hard time. I went to the fertility specialist for two years, had three miscarriages and just couldn’t do it any more. It was too heartbreaking. Then here comes Sky who was wanting someone to adopt her son. Her mom wouldn’t do it. That’s pretty much how the whole thing came about. I didn’t make such swift decisions. They were all quick and didn’t involve attorneys. It was really dumb on my part.”

“By the time we had reached volume 18, I was making small appearances,” she further comments. “I wasn’t really doing that much.”

If a couple of movies or scenes stand out in her mind, Shane says Seymore and Shane: Travels with the Tramp is vivid in her mind.

“We went to Europe and that was a good one; then there was Shane’s World Volume One. I was a nervous wreck, and everything that could have gone wrong did, but it made for a great movie.”

The nastiest thing she’s done on camera was pulling Alex Sanders’ dick out of Yvonne’s ass and putting it in her mouth.

“Although at the time I was having fun,” she chuckles. “But I guess watching it is ugh, although I know Yvonne inside and out so it was all good.”

According to Shane, her brother now wants to get into the business.

“He and his girlfriend are trying to talk me into going to Vegas in January,” she says.
