Parkland, Florida- Few things are more satisfying than being the person who shocks former classmates, in a good way, at a high school reunion. Jessica Garvin not only had this pleasure at the 20th class reunion of Arizona’s Chandler High, she got to experience it on TV for High School Reunion.
Now a resident of Parkland and the mother of a teen, Garvin fills the one-time ugly-ducking niche on the TV Land reality show, which airs Wednesday nights at 10.
“They didn’t even know me,” she said. Small wonder. She’s not only a beauty, she’s such a knockout she had a regular gig on the Playboy Channel.
She’s also got a lively personality, which is how she wound up on the adult network. “I was in college in Ohio,” she said. “I came to South Beach on spring break.” There, a Playboy representative noticed her talking to everyone around her, “like I always do,” Garvin said.
Garvin, who says she is now a professional writer, has a right to revel in every “eat your heart out” moment at the reunion. She suffered from scoliosis as a youngster. Surgery achieved a 98 percent correction by the time she was 13, she said. Nevertheless, she had to wear a cumbersome brace. Classmates were extraordinarily cruel: “One kid brought in a big magnet and said, ‘Let’s pull the nerd into the corner.’ ”
Such past events made the reunion bittersweet. “Feelings returned that I had suppressed,” she said.
