Now that Staunton, Virginia doesn’t have video store owner Rick Krial to kick around any more, a 39 year-old slob named Wayne Gill steps in.
Staunton, Virginia- The investigation continues into the pornography scandal surrounding Gill’s Auto Repair in Staunton.
Staunton police arrested 39-year-old Wayne Gill of Stuarts Draft for allegedly paying an underage high school girl to perform sexual acts on him while he filmed it in a room in the store. Gill’s brother is the owner of the shop.
Police say the investigation reveals that crimes like these, while uncommon, are considered prostitution. Staunton Officer Lisa Klein says it’s a different type of prostitution that you usually find in larger cities.
She adds, “Anytime you have prostitution, it’s a problem. But we don’t have that kind of regular street walking the way people think of it. The most common type of prostitution we have in Staunton is people trading sex for drugs.”
Gill faces charges of child pornography and solicitation of prostitution. The 17-year-old girl involved in the scandal will not be charged.
Back story [NBC]- A Staunton auto shop is at the center of a child porn and prostitution investigation. A manager of Gill’s Auto Repair Shop is facing charges for both and police say more charges may come after a search of the shop’s back room.
Investigators say it was in the back room of Gill’s auto shop where the owner’s brother videotaped an underage girl performing a sex act, paid her, and told her he could “pimp her out.”
Staunton investigators say the crime started in early February in a hallway at R.E. Lee High School. That’s where an unidentified man threatened a 17-year-old girl who owed him money on drug debts. Desperate for cash, she told a 17-year-old male classmate. Police say the classmate showed her a wad of cash and said he knew how she could make some money.
The classmate took the girl to Gill’s Auto Repair Shop on Richmond Road where police say they met 39-year-old Wayne Edward Gill. He’s the shop owner’s brother.
Investigators say Gill led the girl to the auto shop’s back room. She tells police that even after telling Gill she was just 17, he and the boy videotaped her performing oral sex on Gill. Gill allegedly paid the girl $300, told her he could “pimp her out”, and showed her video clips on a shop computer of other young girls in sex acts.
Back at R.E. Lee High School, a school resource officer caught wind of the alleged crimes. That led investigators to Gill’s late last week.
A search warrant lists six pages worth of computers, adult videos, sex toys and several video cameras seized from the auto shop. Police tell NBC29 that computer forensic experts are combing through the files and films, a process that could take some time.
Gill faces a felony charge of producing child porn and a misdemeanor for soliciting prostitution. Police say the 17-year-old boy has not been charged at this time.
According to the police affidavit, the alleged victim is known to investigators. The report says she’s provided information leading to a felony arrest in the past.
