Fro www.kvbc.com- He’s been dubbed the “Craigslist killer.” And Tuesday night, the Las Vegas exotic dancer who may have been one of his robbery victims is explaining how she survived the attack. News 3’s Steve Crupi has the interview and is digging deeper into the accused killer’s first day in court.
“I just complied with everything he wanted me to do.”
That’s what a Las Vegas prostitute said of her ordeal, referring to her alleged encounter with 22-year-old Philip Markoff. After advertising her services on Craigslist, she says Markoff attacked her in a Boston hotel room on April 10, just four days before he allegedly killed 26-year-old Julissa Brisman in a second hotel.
Prosecutors made it clear that they believe Markoff was engaging in a pattern of violence against women he found via the Internet.
“There’s a commonality: Both were working out of hotels in downtown Boston,” says the victim’s attorney.
“Our top priority is holding Philip Markoff accountable,” adds District Attorney Don Conley. “He’s a predator. This was a brutal vicious crime. (Markoff was) willing to take advantage of women.”
In her phone interview with Boston television station WCVB, the Las Vegas escort who was robbed at gunpoint says the man seen in the surveillance videos is her attacker; she says she’ll never forget what Markoff was wearing and what he looked like.
“The same clothing; basically his face.”
Markoff, a second-year medical student at Boston University, pleaded not guilty to murder, kidnapping, and robbery Tuesday. In her phone interview, the Las Vegas sex worker says she hopes Markoff is put away behind bars for the rest of his life. She adds that she’s thinking of changing careers.
Prosecutors confirm they have found plenty of evidence linking Markoff to the hotel room attacks, including computer evidence showing his access to various advertisements on Craigslist.
