Mandate, Torso, Honcho, Inches, and Playguy are all closing up shop, officially ending the gay publishing group of Mavety Media Group’s titles. A lovely send off gets issued at Boy Culture, which reminds us Mandate has been spitting out naked dudes (and entertainment coverage!) for more than 34 years.

Blame the declining ad market. Blame XTube. Blame online sex toy stores. Blame new technology like 3-D porn.

If you’re reading this, you probably won’t miss any of these magazines,beyond nostalgia factor. But these rags, right up till the end, served at least one segment of the gay porn-consuming population, and that’s folks who don’t know how to turn on the computer or check their email or send picture mail from their phone.

Think of your aging gay uncle as you pour out an ounce and say goodbye to wide swath of print smut. (Or try ordering a new subscription! Evidently, you still can.)
