Jury selection is under way in the murder trial of a former gay porn actor accused of killing a Denver businessman.

Twenty-seven-year-old Timothy J. Boham is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated robbery in the shooting death of John Kelso more than 2 1/2 years ago.

From Adultfyi, May, 2007- Denver, Colorado- Onetime gay porn star Timothy Boham is reportedly mulling an insanity plea in the killing of a wealthy Colorado businessman.

John Paul Kelso, 43, was found shot to death in his Denver home by a housekeeper last November. Kelso, who was openly gay, had made a sizable fortune in the debt recovery businesses and was considered a leader in the field.

Boham, 25, had worked for Kelso after giving up his adult film career more than a year ago. Under the stage name Marcus Allen, Boham appeared in “Little Big League,” “Through the Woods,” “Never been touched,” and “Ripe.”

Although the films were gay Boham is straight. At his preliminary in February police said Kelso was killed during a robbery attempt by Boham who allegedly needed money for his pregnant girlfriend.

Boham is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated robbery. He was arrested without incident several weeks after the murder along the Arizona border with Mexico.

At the preliminary hearing Detective Aaron Lopez testified that after his arrest Boham said Kelso had asked him to go into the bedroom to cuddle. Boham allegedly said he then went into the bathroom and came out with his gun in his hand, put it to Kelso’s head and demanded he open a wall safe where Boham believed the businessman was keeping a large amount of case.

There was a struggle, Lopez testified, leaving Kelso bleeding. The millionaire made an attempt to trigger an alarm in the room but it failed to go off. A blood smear was left on the button Lopez said.

The detective testified that Boham said he then put a pillow over Kelso’s face as they continued to struggle and the gun went off killing Kelso.

Boham told the detective that he then went to a local hardware store, bought a saw and forced open the safe but there was little in it except for some rings. He then removed a Rolex and bracelet from Kelso’s body and fled.

Boham was scheduled to be arraigned this week but it was postponed to July 12 after the defense said it needed more time to decide on a plea the Rocky Mountain News reports.
