from www.dailymail.co.uk – The first woman to be prosecuted for grooming a vulnerable 15-year-old girl for sex sobbed uncontrollably today as she was dubbed ‘shameful’ by a judge and jailed for 20 months.

Paedophile Sarah Wilson seduced the dark-haired teenager through an internet chatroom.

But she was arrested after the schoolgirl’s mother learned she had played truant from school and travelled by train from her home in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, to meet the 21-year-old pervert at London’s Kings Cross station.

Today details of what if thought to be the first case of an adult female grooming a schoolgirl for sex emerged during a hearing at Southwark Crown Court in London.

Unemployed Wilson – who weighs more than 20 stone and was dressed in jeans and a pink top – stood weeping in the dock as Prosecutor Peter Zinner told Judge Stephen Robbins:’ This is an unusual case in that is rare for a female to be involved in the grooming of a child and probably the first case of an adult female involved in grooming a young girl.’

The court heard her intended victim was ‘vulnerable’ , had a poor relationship with her parents and suffered from ‘low self-esteem.’

‘It seems that since the summer of last year the victim was contacted by the defendant via an internet chatroom,’ explained Mr Zinner.

‘There was a multitude of text messages, emails and subsequently mobile phone calls between Wilson and the complainant.

‘It became clear during the course of the internet traffic between them, that the 15-year-old was becoming more and more emotionally dependent on the flattery Wilson fed her and phone calls also became more sexually graphic.’

At some stage, Wilson involved her 39-year-old boyfriend Peter Richardson in discussions with her victim but he was cleared of wrongdoing after the prosecution offered no evidence against him at an earlier hearing.

After six months of grooming the pair finally arranged to meet on January 21 this year after the 15-year-old – who cannot be named for legal reasons – caught a train to London .

By then she had been reported missing by her parents and at Kings Cross station was spotted by British Transport police officers and taken into protective custody.

After failing to meet Wilson she received a text warning her she had ‘better not be wasting their time.’

Police ‘kept the ball rolling’ by sending a reassuring message back to Wilson and her boyfriend who then duly arrived at Kings Cross and were arrested on suspicion of sexual grooming.

At first, Wilson admitted knowing the girl was underage but denied planning to have sex with her – instead claiming the girl approached her for a sexual relationship.

Wilson finally confessed after police recovered internet conversations along with porn DVDs, children’s underwear and sex toys at her dingy shared bed-sit.

The court heard that Wilson lived in the one room South London flat with boyfriend Richardson and his female cousin.

Wilson admitted she was hoping to have a sexual relationship with the teenage schoolgirl – without the involvement of her boyfriend.

During a police interview the 15-year-old victim said she still had ‘some affection’ for Wilson and did not want her ‘getting into trouble’ but she realised what the defendant had done was wrong.

‘There was an element of planning and sophistication to the grooming of this child, who was lonely and vulnerable.

‘Wilson held out a promise of a loving relationship, which was clearly something missing from this young girl’s life,’ added the prosecutor.

As Wilson wept hysterically in the dock Judge Stephen Robbins jailed her for 20 months and told her:

‘You are 21 and this girl was 15. She has been described as vulnerable and of low self esteem.

‘This conduct of yours was utterly shameful.

‘You exploited her via the internet and text messages and sending pictures to her.

‘Even more seriously you persuaded her to come down from Scunthorpe to Kings Cross in London.

‘This offence was planned, sophisticated and you showed determination over a period of time in grooming this young girl.

‘It was only due to the alertness of the school, who in turn made contact with her mother and the success of the British Transport Police that fortunately she was intercepted.’

Wilson from, Camberwell, South London, admitted travelling to meet a child following sexual grooming.

She will now have to register as a sex offender for 10 years and is banned for life from working with children.

This evening Detective Sergeant Dave Gritton, of the BTP, said: ‘This is very unusual, in that it is rare for the offender in a grooming case on a young girl to be a female.

‘Undoubtedly if Wilson had managed to meet the victim and taken her to the flat, then serious sexual offences would have taken place.’
