Porn Valley- I spoke to director Jim Enright who’s now a spokesman for Club Jenna. Enright explains the disbursement of Jenna funds [the AIAF] alluded to in an earlier post this morning.
“The funds are earmarked for the people who have tested positive,” Enright explains. “It’s to give them some living expenses.” Enright says checks are going out tomorrow to the people on the HIV positive list and that Darren James decided to forego getting assistance because he was being taken care [from TT Boy in all likelihood].
“Darren wanted us to put the money back in the pot for the people who are infected. We’re also going to pay for their testing and look into paying for their medications as necessary. Hypothetically that could be $1000 a month to $500 a year depending on what kind of medications or what doctors they have and what their immune systems are like and what they can or can’t tolerate.”
Enright says the fund will also cover the testing for the people who are on the quarantine list. “The people that are infected get a little more right now because we haven’t raised that much money.”
Because most of the testing is being done by AIM, most of the money being collected will go to AIM, Enright stipulates.
“That’s because of the tests they’re performing and their expense. I’m told they’re doing RNA, PCR-DNA, ELISA, Western Blot tests and there could be others. But we’re just basically going in with the lab’s costs. AIM is talking to the labs right now to see if we can get a reduction because there are so many tests going through there.”
The fund raising effort will continue, says Enright who’s been trying to get manufacturers to participate. “I’ve contacted Wicked, Pleasure, Sin City, and a number of the others in order to get an ongoing donation by them on a monthly basis where they’d give a percentage per production cost. We don’t know what the numbers are going to be yet. Some of the companies seem receptive to this. Others are thinking about it. This can continue to be an ongoing fund for the talent that they’ll have there in case a crisis like this arises again.”
Enright suggests that once the system gets locked in place it can provide funds for on-going testing for all the performers.
“If you look at the testing- and what the regular testing we’re doing costs per person, per month – it’s $110. If you multiply that by the estimated 1200 performers, that’s about $12,000 a month we’d have to raise just to cover their regular testing. At least this is what we’re trying to get to. We get to that point by various donations.” Enright acknowledges that there are a battery of performers who live out of state.
“Right now we’re getting calls from lots of different people who are saying I’m part of the talent pool- I want money because I’m not working. Right now we’re just trying to help where we can at this time and continue to raise money.”
Regarding other independent fund raisers, Enright says that’s apart from AIAF. “But we’ll be happy to sit down and talk to people and be of assistance to them in their fund raising efforts. As long as the money’s going to talent, it doesn’t matter where it comes from. It’s benefiting them. And it benefits everyone in our community.”
Enright also notes that Seymore from Sardos is donating proceeds from the door along with contributions from Porn Star Karaoke to the AIAF. “He’s going to keep this as an on-going thing and I thought that was very nice.”
