SALISBURY, Massachusetts— The owner of a Salisbury strip club has pleaded guilty to federal charges of filing four years worth of false tax returns for not reporting some cash proceeds from the club.
Federal prosecutors say 54-year-old Kevin Moury charged dancers a $35 fee to perform at his club, called Kittens. He also charged them for showing up late or leaving early, and charged customers $5 for Jell-O shots.
Authorities say he deposited this money in an account held jointly with his wife, which he used for business expenses, but did not include the money on tax returns filed from 2004 to 2007. Prosecutors say he owed the Internal Revenue Service nearly $88,000.
Moury’s lawyer tells The Newburyport Daily News the charges are a “shame.”
He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 14.
