PANAMA CITY, Florida — from www.newsherald.com – A 25-year-old Panama City woman is in jail for allegedly showing pornographic movies and performing live sexual acts in front of her children.

Sophia Lynette Bright, of 1209 E. 15th St., was arrested Friday on two counts of lewd or lascivious exhibition in the presence of a minor under 16 years old, two counts of showing obscene material to a minor, and two counts of child abuse, according to a Panama City Police Department arrest affidavit.

Bright’s children, an 8-year-old boy and 6-year-old girl, had been living for some time their aunt, who reportedly recently noticed the children acting out sexually, prompting an investigation by the Department of Children and Families.

The children were questioned separately by a child protection team, and police called their responses troubling.

“It is very disturbing stuff,” PCPD Sgt. Jeff Becker said.

On multiple occasions, Bright allegedly made the children watch movies depicting adults in sexual activity, scolding them when they hid or averted their eyes. The affidavit alleges on another occasion Bright called the children into the house, stating “Watch us, watch us,” as she performed sex acts on an unknown adult male.

Bright had her first court appearance Saturday and bond was set at $25,000.

Bright, who remains in Bay County Jail, is scheduled to be arraigned before Circuit Judge Michael Overstreet on Aug. 20.
