People have been questioning whether to continue to advertise – there’s been talk of Internet companies pulling ads in support of Rosenblatt who’s married to Darren Blatt, a major player on the ‘Net side. Which actually makes Jennifer, Jennifer Rosenblatt-Blatt.

AVN’s also been taking lots of heat over their authoritarian stance during the HIV crisis, which isn’t helping matters any. I also hear that Paul Fishbein has plans on retiring within a month or two. Fishbein’s also going around telling everybody how devastated he is about the Rosenblatt firing, which, if so, would lead one to assume that he no longer has a say over at AVN. I hear Rosenblatt, who was making BIG bucks, was urged to buy a Jaguar because AVN wanted all of its managers to be riding around in prestigious cars. Jennifer had bought Darren Roberts a $10,000 Rolex. Roberts was the one who fired her. Roberts and Lisa Love also broke up. I hear that Rosenblatt and Tim Connelly did not get long at all and Rosenblatt’s departure has been part of Connelly’s systematic erasure of the AVN old guard. [Remember Tod Hunter?]

I also hear talk that Rosenblatt, who pretty much knows where all the bodies are buried, might be pursuing legal action against AVN and, for that reason, is keeping mum and not talking on record. If nothing else, Rosenblatt’s departure, which was under the murkiest of circumstances, is going to leave the magazine in chaos because, not only did she curry substantial advertising loyalties over the years but also went about the tricky business of advertising layout for each issue, often working hours till early morning.
