That’s the message from a former Florida city manager who lost his job after he married a porn star.

Scott Janke of Groveland learned yesterday – from the media – that he’s been eliminated as a finalist for a municipal job in Alaska.

In Alaska, Petersburg Mayor Al Dwyer said the issue of Janke’s wife was discussed, and there were no indications it dissuaded council members from keeping Janke on the list of candidates. But Dwyer said he was the only council member who voted for Janke.

“I hope somebody will get past the media attention and let me talk to them,” Janke told the Herald yesterday.

Janke has applied for jobs nationwide, as well as in Massachusetts, where his wife was raised and they now have her three teen boys in school. All he wants is a break.

“I’m confident something will happen,” Janke said.

Janke was town manager of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., when he married Anabela Mota in October 2008. Mota, whose stage name is Jazella Moore, operates a XXX-Web site and has been featured in several adult movies and most recently in Hustler magazine. Janke was fired in July after word of his bride’s job reached the city council. He received $50,000 in severance pay and moved to Groveland.

He said he has spent the past few months filling out job applications to cities and towns across the country from the comfort of a home in the quiet enclave known for its centuries-old Congregational Church and Paul Revere bell. Janke, a Vietnam War-era Navy veteran, said he started his career in Alaska after the war.
