BUFFALO – from www.whec.com -State Police have made an arrest in a deadly crash on the Thruway near Pembroke. It happened on December 12 around 11:20 a.m.
Police say the car of 33-year-old Julie Stratton of Snyder was disabled in the westbound passing lane after she struck a deer. While calling police, she was hit by a tractor-trailer driven by Thomas Wallace of Ohio. She was killed as a result of injuries sustained in that crash.
An investigation by State Police revealed that Wallace was in violation of the Transportation Law. Police say Wallace was operating the tractor-trailer while keeping fictitious log books, had been on duty for over 27 hours with only four hours of sleep.
Police say Wallace was also using a laptop computer, which was on his lap, to stream pornographic movies while he was driving.
Wallace is charged with second-degree manslaughter and was remanded to the Genesee county Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash/$200,000 bond.

Thomas Wallace of Brook Park, Ohio, is charged with second-degree manslaughter in last month’s death of 33-year-old Julie Stratton, a mother of two from Snyder, near Buffalo.
Wallace, 45, was being held in Genesee County Jail yesterday, a day after his arrest. A message left at his home was not immediately returned and it was unknown whether he had an attorney.
Investigators say Wallace also violated federal rules governing drivers by sleeping no more than four of 27 hours before the crash. Stratton’s car was struck soon after she called 911 to report she’d hit a deer east of Buffalo.
