Anna Arrowsmith has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the borough at the upcoming general election.

The 38-year-old is the boss of adult film company Easy on the Eye and has made around 300 movies under the pseudonym Anna Span, winning a number of awards.

She has also written a book advising couples on how to make porn at home, which has sold more than 22,000 copies.

Describing herself on Facebook, she said: “I am a keen campaigner for women’s rights and anti-censorship issues, with a career of some 12 years spent changing the adult industry towards a more female friendly one.

“I am a natural fighter for justice and equality and I look forward to fighting on behalf of Gravesham at Westminster.”

Discussing her ties to the area, she said: “I have very fond memories of spending a lot of time at my grandparents in Greenhithe as a child.”

She added: “Half my family are from this area, which gives me great pride.”

In a message posted on her Twitter page, Mrs Arrowsmith, who lives in Tunbridge Wells with her husband Tim, said: “From porn to Parliament, here I come!”

A Liberal Democrat spokesman said: “The Liberal Democrats are proud to have candidates throughout the country with a great diversity of backgrounds and life experiences.

“Anna will be a strong candidate for Gravesham and with her family links to the area we believe she is the best person to bring fairness to local people.”
