Put it this way- the Republican Party having their convention in Tampa is like PETA having a sleepover at Michael Vick’s house.
from www.tampabay.com -Organizers of the 2012 Republican National Convention say hosting it will be a huge economic boon to the Tampa Bay area. And at least one Tampa business owner, Joe Redner, who runs the world-famous Mons Venus strip club, agrees.
Any convention, he said, attracts people to his club. Sometimes they’re the type that frequent gentlemen’s clubs in every city they visit, and sometimes they’re just there because they have heard of the Mons, sort of like those who make a trek to the Chicken Ranch when they visit Las Vegas. Redner said he didn’t expect Republicans to be any different. “For some of them it will open their eyes to the fact that good healthy sex is not as bad as they think it is,” Redner said. And he promised not to tell on anyone he sees at the club.
Redner also said he expected to save a little money personally because he might protest the event. He had to pay for airfare and accommodations when he traveled to New York City in 2004 to protest George Bush’s nomination. Redner is active in the Hillsborough County Democratic Party, regularly attending meetings and fundraisers. He has run for Hillsborough County Commission and the City Council several times.
