Crowe alleges the woman told him she had breast cancer.

“This woman contacted us to say she would accept donations, she had been refused funding from the government and had, or has, a form of blood cancer, and needed breast reconstruction,” he said.

In an interview with RadioLIVE this morning, Crow said he is around $5000 out of pocket and says other people raised more for the Christchurch woman.

He says the woman never had breast cancer, instead spending the money on breast reconstruction.

The woman is in hospital on an unrelated matter and Crowe says he hasn’t been able to talk to her yet.
