from www.associatedcontent.com – Playboy launched its latest Internet venture Monday — a Safe For Work (SFW) website, “The Smoking Jacket,” designed to allow the bored cubicle worker something to peruse (in lingerie) without getting fired.
To say that “The Smoking Jacket” is testosterone-friendly might be an understatement. The Playboy site’s first featured model, Kimberly Phillips, graces “The Smoking Jacket” in a video from a lingerie photo shoot, and, in keeping with Playboy’s reputation for display, her video is surrounded by scantily clad women in topbar and sidebar photo links.
Looking every bit like a healthier Olivia Wilde, Kimberly Phillips might not be a household name, but she certainly will be a workplace name before the week is out.
Hugh Hefner himself welcomed the casually browsing individual to the site Monday with a short video clip, telling those in the workplace that the only place safer than “The Smoking Jacket” was his Playboy Mansion. The site offers the usual guy things — lots of visually attractive fluff designed to titillate more than educate — that Playboy has become famous for. Besides scantily clad beautiful women, there are guys getting hurt, people blowing things up, and more scantily clad women — but designed around the idea that there is enough clothing involved that one does not get terminated for having it on the monitor at work.
As for the first “The Smoking Jacket” model, for those not in the know, Kimberly Phillips was Playboy’s September 2009 Playmate of the Month. She’s 23 and, according to her MySpace page, she is from Corona, Calif.. She’s currently “blessed.” Apparently, besides the people at Playboy, those at Sports Illustrated would agree. SI.com named her “Lovely Lady of the Day” Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Phillips became one of the top trending topics on Google.
After checking out Ms. Phillips’ video and/or photo gallery, one can peruse other tantalizing videos, like the one featuring Natasha Alam of “True Blood,” who got naked for Playboy’s traditional hardcopy July issue.
There are sidebars filled with links to photo galleries and male-oriented stories. Yes, there are articles as well, such as “How To Get Laid At Work” and “7 Signs You’ve Given Up On Getting Laid.”
Did we mention that “The Smoking Jacket” is testosterone-friendly? It is without doubt a visually stimulating montage of visually stunning women and things that make guys feel like men. Whether or not the new Playboy site is Safe For Work will undoubtedly be a decision to be made by each workplace, but it should be noted, if the decision is made to allow workers to access the site while at work (during breaks, of course), that viewing videos and/or photos of women like Kimberly Phillips will make it hard for male workers to do anything in the standing position for minutes on end.
