ORMOND BEACH, Fla. from www.myfoxorlando.com – Chris Tadrosse lives in Fort Lauderdale.
He showed up to an Ormond Beach community meeting on Tuesday night at a local church. He’s in the process of opening up what he calls a bikini bar on the east side of U.S. 1 in Ormond Beach. You can’t miss the establishment. It’s painted in a flamingo pink color and has black windows. It’ll be called “Cheaters.”
Ormond Beach residents lined up to hammer away at Tadrosse.
“If you really cared about Ormond Beach, you would have come to the city leaders,” said one resident.”The building we chose was property that was foreclosed on. It was sitting in a condition of disrepair,” Tadrosse responds.
Tadrosse is also the owner of the “Cheaters Gentlemen’s Club” in Cocoa Beach, which is a strip club.
“The Cheaters in Cocoa Beach operates under an adult code which allows nudity. The Cheaters that we are planning to open here does not operate under an adult code. It does not permit nudity,” said Tadrosse
But it’s going to be an uphill battle for these Ormond Beach residents to keep the owner from opening the bar.
“What makes you think your obnoxious building will succeed?” asked one resident of Tadrosse. ” What I ask people to appreciate, is the fact that there is a lawful purpose that were using this facility for,” said Tadrosse.
According to the law, a bikini bar is not considered an adult entertainment business. There is nothing that the city or government can do to keep it from opening. The citizens on the other hand, that’s a different story. Some residents are talking about protesting the business when it opens.
