Nashville, Tenn – from www.nashvillescene.com – OK, so what’s more bizarre: The fact that a group of kindergartners’ bus stop on Dickerson Pike is the parking lot of an adult video store, or the fact that the manager of said video store is just as annoyed as the parents about the whole ordeal — not because it’s awkward and inappropriate, but because parents who are waiting for their kids are taking up all the parking lot spaces he needs for his customers.

Real quote from the WSMV story: “It bothers me because all of the parents come up here and take up every one of our parking spots waiting on their kids to get off the bus,” said John Searle, the manager of Jenna’s Toybox.

But wait, the adult video store is called Jenna’s Toy Box! For realz! Get it? An adult store named Jenna’s Toy Box? Wonder what delightful treasures await inside Jenna’s Toy Box. I’d link to it, but we both know you can find it on your own.

Boner zoning, you might call it. The kids live within a half-mile of the school and are supposedly not even technically eligible for bus service, but it was implemented to help them avoid a high-risk walk to school. Only the treatment is perhaps worse than the disease. Another real quote, this one from a parent: “She hasn’t asked me yet. It’s just a purple building right now, so I’m glad she hasn’t asked because I don’t know what I would say to her if she asked.”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — from www.wsmv.com – Dozens of Nashville kindergartners are being dropped off by the Metro school bus in front of an adult video store.

“I don’t think it’s appropriate,” said Keitsha Perkins, the mother of a kindergartner.

“I don’t think it gives a good message,” said Albert Donnell, another concerned parent.

Tom Joy Elementary School’s kindergartners get picked up and dropped off every day on Dickerson Pike. Their bus stop is the parking lot of an adult video store.

Parents said they aren’t happy about it.

“I don’t think anybody would be OK with it,” said Perkins.

The manager of the store said he isn’t happy either.

“It bothers me because all of the parents come up here and take up every one of our parking spots waiting on their kids to get off the bus,” said John Searle, the manager of Jenna’s Toybox.

Many said they think they have a simple solution.

“To be honest, I don’t see why the bus can’t go down the hill. There’s a big spot down there where they can turn around,” said Searle.

While Channel 4 News was interviewing parents, reporters saw other Metro school buses drive down the hill.

Metro Schools said the bus the kindergartners ride is too big to make the drive down the hill. Additionally, school officials said the neighborhood is only a half mile from the school, and technically, the families aren’t eligible for bus service.

The school system said it’s going out of its way to keep the kids safe from a dangerous walk.

Parents told Channel 4 they are thankful for that.

“I’m glad she’s getting to ride a bus now,” said one parent.

They said they want the location changed fast before the uncomfortable question about Jenna’s Toy Box comes up.

“She hasn’t asked me yet. It’s just a purple building right now, so I’m glad she hasn’t asked because I don’t know what I would say to her if she asked,” said Perkins.

Perkins said she contacted the school board to file a complaint.

School representatives said they would send a transportation supervisor out Tuesday to make sure there aren’t any other options.
