WESTBROOK, Maine – from www.wmtw.com – — A committee in Westbrook could vote Monday evening on an adult entertainment ordinance.
The vote is the latest development in a controversy surrounding a strip club that opened last month.
The day after Dreamers Cabaret opened, city officials closed it down because of fire code violations.
City leaders said the owners lied about what kind of business Dreamers Cabaret would be.
City councilors said they don’t want to ban nude entertainment, they want to regulate it.
The owners of the club are still waiting to get all the necessary permits to reopen.
There is still the question of whether the business would be grandfathered in if councilors pass the ordinance.
