LOS ANGELES — UCLA’s Reproductive Health Interest Group and Law Students for Reproductive Justice presents a panel Thursday morning on condoms in the adult film industry.
The open-panel discussion will feature speakers Peter Kerndt from the L.A. County Department of Public Health; Whitney Engeran-Cordova from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation; Shelley Lubben, executive director of the Pink Cross Foundation; and adult performer Mr. Marcus.
The panel will be moderated by Cal/OSHA’s Pete Greyshock.
Event organizers say the goal of the discussion is to raise awareness and get students involved in workplace safety practices.
Each panelist will speak for approximately five minutes, followed by students asking questions for the remaining time.
Mr. Marcus told www.XBIZ.com he plans to tell the panel that trying to mandate and enforce condom use is just not practical for the adult industry.
“I don’t have a problem with condoms. It’s regulating and mandating them that doesn’t apply to this industry. It’s simply not enforceable.”
Marcus also told XBiz that with the global proliferation of porn on the Internet, it’s impossible to enforce condom use because there’s no way to identify where or when the footage was shot.
The discussion starts at 11:30 a.m. and goes to 1 p.m. at the UCLA School of Law, Room 1457.
Industry members are invited to attend.
