Topac Shakur just rolled over in his grave.
Los Angeles, CA. -Just months after launching her new book, Truth Behind the Fantasy of Porn, former porn star Shelley Lubben is now set to launch her first EP, also called Truth Behind the Fantasy of Porn.
Lubben, passionate rapper, classifies her music as a cross between Eminem and Martin Luther King, Jr., noting that her music is her message to expose the harms of the porn industry and help women and men recover from porn.
The first single, called Killer Fantasy, has a hard hitting beat with a message from a porn star speaking to porn fans about the truth behind the adult industry. Shelley raps, “Your Killer Fantasy, but my reality is, that while you clicking me the industry is killing me”. You can preview Killer Fantasy on Lubben’s web-site www.shelleylubben.com and the EP will be available on January 3, 2011.
“It’s not every day you get to hear a former porn star rapping,” said Lubben of the new album.
When not busy in the recording studio, Lubben is also the executive director of the Pink Cross Foundation, an organization whose mission is to save men and women that are trapped in the porn industry, showing them there is a better life outside of the industry.
All proceeds from Lubben’s new album will go to support the Pink Cross Foundation.
The Album comes on the heels of Lubben’s recently released book – “Truth Behind the Fantasy of Porn – The Greatest Illusion on Earth” launched last fall, it’s the first book ever written by a former porn star that exposes the “secret” side of porn.
In the book, Lubben pulls no punches as she details her own personal journey that starts at the age of 9 with childhood sexual abuse and moves on to prostitution and then into the porn business.
Following detailed behind-the-scenes accounts of how she and others were treated and abused, Lubben talks about the difficult road she traveled to not only get out of the industry alive and healthy – but also how she became the leading advocate speaking out against the porn industry while at the same time managing to raise a beautiful family with a loving husband and three daughters.
When not working tirelessly to help educate porn stars about the harms and health risks of the industry, Lubben has been working to ensure that the porn industry be held to the same work standards that other industries our governed by. Recently she has been testifying before Congress and the State of California to shine a light on industry practices asking the government to enforce current health and safety laws within the adult film industry.
By shining a spotlight on the industry, Lubben is pleased to see that the state is starting to take action and clean up the porn industry. Earlier this month, The City of Los Angeles denied a license renewal and closed a California sexual health clinic in the San Fernando Valley which was run by the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM). The self-regulated clinic was used by porn producers to test actors for sexually transmitted diseases before filming. The clinic, according to Lubben, was run by a board of porn producers and a fraudulent doctor who is a former porn star.
Lubben, who starred in about 30 movies from 1993-94 and caught herpes and HPV while in the porn industry now serves as Executive Director of the Pink Cross Foundation saving men and women that are trapped in the porn industry. Lubben is also a leading advocate working tirelessly to expose the hazardous work conditions and the truth about the modern day porn slave trade.
