from www.nydailynews.com – Charlie Sheen may insist he is fine, but his bosses over at CBS say they have “high concern” over the “Two and a Half Men” star’s personal life.
Speaking to television journalists Friday, the network’s entertainment chief Nina Tassler called Sheen’s situation “very complicated.”
Sheen, 45, caused quite a stir earlier in the week after having an “epic bender” in Las Vegas where he partied with at least three porn stars, as well as Jesse James’ former mistress Michelle (Bombshell) McGee, TMZ.com reported.
The sitcom star was allegedly seen “hammering down Grey Goose vodka” at The Palms Hotel and Casino, despite concern from his colleagues and personal staff about his well-being.
But after much speculation that the troubled actor wouldn’t make it to work on time Tuesday, his publicist confirmed to the Daily News that he was back on the “Two and a Half Men” set and performed as expected.
According to TMZ, Sheen is a “functioning addict,” which is perhaps why he has managed to hold on to his high-paying job while still keeping up his hard-partying ways.
Tassler stopped short of saying the network might take any action because Sheen shows up for work, does his job well and his show is a success.
“We have a high level of concern. How could we not?” Tassler said. “On a basic human level, there is concern that this man is a father, he has children, he has a family. But you can’t look at it simplistically. Charlie is a professional, he comes to work, he does his job extremely well. It is very complicated.
“Charlie knows the level of concern we have,” she added. “He does his job, he does it well, the show is a hit, and that’s all I have to say.”
“Two and a Half Men” is the top-rated comedy on U.S. television, with an average weekly audience of some 15 million viewers, and Sheen is the industry’s highest-paid star with a reported salary of $1.8 million an episode.
The actor’s recent trip to Sin City is only the latest episode in his year of headline-making moments. Following a conviction last year for attacking his wife, Sheen infamously went on a coke-and-booze-fueled binge with adult film actress Capri Anderson at The Plaza hotel in October.
