from www.jacksonsun.com – A Hardin County jailer told investigators he had consensual sex with two female inmates at the Hardin County Jail and has been charged with two counts of sexual contact with an inmate, authorities said Thursday.

Scotty Wayne Dendy [pictured], 39, was arrested Jan. 7 after the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation looked into a complaint made against him, said John Mehr, special agent in charge with the TBI in Jackson.

Mehr said the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department and the District Attorney’s office asked the TBI to do the investigation on Jan. 5.

According to affidavits, Dendy entered the jail cells of a two female inmates while he was a jailer and had consensual sex with the women. The affidavits use initials to identify the two women.

Dendy provided a written confession to the incidents, the affidavits say. Mehr declined to say when the incidents took place.

Hardin County Sheriff Sammy Davidson said Dendy has been fired from his position. Dendy began working for the Sheriff’s Department in August, Davidson said.

Davidson said he received a complaint from inside the jail and immediately contacted the TBI and the district attorney’s office.

Dendy is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Jan. 25 in Hardin County General Sessions Court.
