Oklahoma – from www.myfoxdc.com – An Oklahoma nurse is fighting back after the state’s nursing board barred her from her profession for 20 years for having sex with her married, terminally-ill hospice patient, The Oklahoman reported Sunday.

Amber Van Brunt, 33, goes before an Oklahoma County judge Wednesday to ask to reverse the board’s August decision.

Van Brunt’s attorney said it was a consensual relationship that did not take place while she was working.

The Oklahoma Nursing Board said it had evidence that the sexual relationship occurred during work hours, but said this fact was irrelevant anyway because any relationship outside of the work day would still be considered unprofessional, the newspaper reported.

Van Brunt started caring for Chris Reiter, 43, at his home in November 2009. He suffered from Lou Gehrig’s disease and was given six months or less to live.

Before he died in May 2010, Reiter said he had been seduced, the paper said.
