VENICE, CA – It’s only been days since Jenna Haze took home five awards from the 2011 AVN Awards in Las Vegas and it’s given the superstar time to contemplate her impact on the business.
As she nears 10 years in the adult industry, she has been a star almost from day one—winning Best New Starlet, her contract with Jill Kelly Productions and the countless awards, especially after returning to boy-girl with blockbusters Jenna Haze Dark Side (2006, Jules Jordan Video) and Interactive Sex With Jenna Haze (2007, Zero Tolerance). Fans and an anxious industry watched as an already-stellar career was taken to a completely new level.
At this year’s AVN Awards, Jenna proved her diversity by winning a personal overall award (Fan Award for Favorite Performer), her sex scenes (Best All-Girl Couples Scene for her legendary performance with Monique Alexander in Jennaration X’s Meow!), and three trophies for her directing (four if you include the scene in Meow!): Best All-Sex Release for Just Jenna; Cum Spoiled Brats won for Best Young Girl Release; and Best All-Girl Release went to Meow! That’s three completely different categories being dominated by one director who only released four movies over the year. No other director today can make such a claim.
“Certainly the more I think about it, the more it sinks in, the more my task seems obvious,” Jenna said.
“I think I’m in a special place right now where I’m really keyed in to what fans want, no matter what the category. I’m a porn fan myself, and ultimately I’m looking for gorgeous girls to just have sex without me getting in the way. It sounds simple, but getting in on tape can be quite a challenge!”
At next month’s XBIZ Awards, Jenna is up for Performer of the Year, her www.JennaHaze.com website is up for Porn Star Site and Jennaration X Studios is nominated for Gonzo Studio of the Year and Sexual Blacktivity 2 is in the running for Interracial Release.
Maybe one of the reasons that Jenna is so in touch with the desires of her fans is not only because she is a porn fan herself, but also because she spends so much time with fans. Whether it’s shows like last week’s Adult Entertainment Expo or this weekend’s feature dancing gig at the great Club Risqué in Philadelphia. She will be on the stages of the chain’s three local clubs.
“I definitely think a big part of my popularity is that I very actively get out to see my fans in person at every opportunity I get,” she said. “I get a ton of great feedback and ideas from the guys out there watching this stuff. If I’m not going to listen to them, who should I listen to?”
