from www.nydailynews.com – The foxy sex worker-turned-Bronx art teacher who opened up about her tantalizing exploits has resigned from the Department of Education, officials said Friday.

Melissa Petro, 31, was reassigned to administrative duty last year after penning an article for the Huffington Post on her youthful indiscretions as a Craigslist hooker and Mexican stripper.

The tenured teacher at Public School 70 in Mount Eden agreed Tuesday to leave the department, officials said. She faced a termination hearing if she stayed on.

A departmental investigation found a number of internet musings in which Petro discussed the sex trade, smoking pot and the similarities between fornicating and educating.

“Sometimes it’s fun, it’s especially fun in the beginning, and then you get on with it, and there’s the meat of the matter, like you get to business, and then it’s over and then you’ve got to do it again and again and again,” she said in a monologue posted on Vodpod.com.

“Well, I’m a teacher, and I teach art to kids, so I teach the same lesson over and over and over.”

In December, she told Marie Claire magazine she spent her days on desk duty penning a memoir on the public’s dime.

“I’m paid my full salary to sit in what amounts to detention,” she said.

Petro could not be reached for comment Friday night.
