from www.coloradoan.com – An instructional coach for Mountain View High School in Loveland was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault Friday night after police found her with a boy in a motor vehicle, according to a Loveland Police Department news release.

Courtney Renee Bowles, 31, of Fort Collins also faces charges of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to the Larimer County arrest report.

She remained in custody at Larimer County Detention Center on Saturday afternoon.

Bowles was arrested at North Lake Park, where a Loveland police officer had contacted the vehicle at 10:40 p.m. for being in the park after it was closed.

“The initial investigation suggests this was an isolated incident with no indication of any other victims,” according to the Loveland news release.

Thompson School District communications director Wes Fothergill said Bowles is on administrative leave pending the investigation. Staff and parents have been notified through the district’s phone system, he said.

The district hired Bowles in December 2009, he said.

An instructional coach “works with other staff members to improve their classroom instruction. So it’s a teacher of teachers, not a classroom teacher,” Fothergill said.

He said Bowles also was sponsor of Mi Raza, a student group at the high school.
This is the second arrest of a district employee since November, when 58-year-old Johnnie Bellington was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault on a female child by one in a position of trust and one count of sexual assault with a pattern of abuse, among other charges.

Bellington was a “non-school” employee who police listed as a heating and air-conditioning technician, according to a previous report in the Loveland Connection.

Fothergill said Bowles was given a background check, as is standard procedure with all staff.

“It’s very unfortunate,” he said. “She was highly-qualified for the position. She’s only been with us a lit-tle more than a year.”

The listing for Courtney Bowles with Mountain View on LinkedIn shows her previous experience includes working as a preschool teacher at United Day Care Center, a social studies teacher with Westmin-ster High School and a social studies teacher at Northglenn Middle School, among other jobs.

She holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Denver and a bachelor’s degree in history from Colorado State University, according to the profile.
