SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. — from www.wnem.com – Saginaw Township revised its sexually orientated business rules Monday and is now facing a federal lawsuit.

Tini Bikini’s Bar & Grill filed the suit alleging township officials violated the bar’s constitutional rights to open.

The restaurant, which features scantily dressed employees and live dance entertainment, planned to open in the former RJ’s Grill & Brew, 3140 Bay.

In September, the township denied the transfer of a liquor license from RJ’s to Tini Bikini’s.

The lawsuit claims the restaurant is being targeted, asking the federal court to review the refusal to transfer the liquor license and the enforcement of the sexually oriented business rules.

Township officials have said the “adult-oriented” business may open in the suburb, but not at RJ’s because it’s within 1,000 feet of a school, church and residential area.

Tini Bikini’s Bar & Grill already has one location in Grand Rapids and plans to open in Jackson and Lansing, too. Grosse Pointe Farms attorney David R. Draper, who represents Tini Bikini’s, told TV5 the employees of the Saginaw Township business would not wear G-strings, unlike in the Grand Rapids location.
