Five New York politicians became embroiled in nationally embarrassing sex scandals since 2008.

All took the oath of office and ignored their marital vows. And all but philandering former Gov. David Paterson – who, a day after taking office, admitted to pre-gubernatorial affairs – were forced to step down for not being able to keep their hormones in check.

Paterson predecessor Eliot Spitzer, a married father of three girls, was done in by his socks-on trysts with $4,300-a-pop hookers.

Staten Island Rep. Vito Fossella quit his 2008 reelection campaign after admitting he had a mistress and daughter.

Upstate Democrat Eric Massa – aka “Rep. Tickle” – resigned last April amid reports that he was a serial groper of young men dating back to his Navy days.

Throw in Spitzer, the adulterous Paterson and Lee, and New York can claim a fab five of free love.

David Catalfamo, a former top aide to Gov. George Pataki, said the times had changed more than the behavior.

New York’s politicians once swore by the “Bear Mountain Compact” – anything that happened north of Rockland County’s Bear Mountain remained hush-hush. In the age of the Internet, that’s impossible.

“Technology and communications have outpaced secrecy and privacy,” Catalfamo said. “You leave a footprint everywhere you go.”
