LAist Covers the XBiz Awards

Just like the winners at the adult award shows, we’ll put you on the red carpet at www.adultcybermart.com …for a price.

Los Angeles- from www.laist.com – Earlier this month, the local adult business publication XBIZ held its ninth annual XBIZ Awards [Ivan and Asa Akira are pictured] at the Hollywood Palladium.

Hosted by Jesse Jane and comedian Whitney Cummings, the show awarded 106 prizes in five categories (Movies & Production, Web & Tech, Pleasure Products, Retail & Distribution, and Special Recognitions). Big winners included Digital Playground (Studio of the Year), Wicked Pictures (Feature Studio of the Year and Feature Movie of the Year – Speed), Elegant Angel (Gonzo Studio of the Year), and New Sensations (Parody Studio of the Year and Parody Release of the Year – The Big Lebowski: A XXX Parody). Other winners included Andy San Dimas (Female Performer of the Year), Kayden Kross (Female Acting Performance of the Year – Body Heat), Chanel Preston (New Starlet of the Year), and Riley Steele (Crossover Star of the Year), as well as Tommy Gunn (Male Performer of the Year), Keni Styles (Male Acting Performance of the Year – Malice in Lalaland), and Flash Brown (New Male Performer of the Year).

Winner reaction was one of elation among many, tempered by humility.

“‘This is so amazing. I can’t believe I won Female Performer of the Year,'” Andy San Dimas told XBIZ.

“‘I’m just happy to be doing what I do. I just showed up and did my best. I’m kind of speechless to be honest, but this is a great day,'” Male Performer of the Year winner Tommy Gunn confided.

“‘Body Heat was the one movie I really cried for — real tears — so I think that says something. I worked with an acting coach with this specific script. I didn’t feel like I was doing porn, I felt like I was playing a role,'” Female Acting Performance of the Year winner Kayden Kross revealed.

“‘I put a lot of work into researching Johnny Depp’s character in Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. I watched the movie again and again, trying to get down his characteristics. A lot of people just said it came naturally to me. I put myself into the role. And I’m already a zany character. Working with [Sasha Grey] was really good. She helped me raise my game so much. I learned a lot from Sasha,'” Male Acting Performance of the Year winner Keni Styles explained.

As for Director of the Year – Body of Work winner Lee Roy Myers, he declared, “‘I really love my job. I love directing, writing and producing, and the people I get to work with. I literally get to work with my best friends every day on my shoots. How can you beat that? My crew made me. I’d be nothing without them.'”
