Greeenville, S.C. – from www.foxcarolina.com – The topics of sex and pornography are typically not discussed during Sunday worship, but one Greenville church has decided to change that this weekend.

Pastor Robbie Hall [pictured], of Envision Church, said the speaker is part of a series called X-Rated Marriages, which focuses on intimacy in a marriage, a topic he said God addresses in the Bible.

“We believe if the Bible speaks to it, we have to speak to it, too,” Hall said.

Hall said congregants will hear from two women who spent their lives in the sex industry. He said the speakers will talk about how strip clubs, pornography and prostitution can ruin a marriage.

“We want to (not only) speak to the damage that the sex industry does to a marriage, but also the damage it does to the people in the industry,” Hall said.

Some people who attend the church, which meets at the Hollywood 20 movie theater on Woodruff Road, said when they heard about the scheduled speakers they were shocked, but when they learned the meaning behind it all that changed.

“Thinking about the intimacy of your relationship, and being able to talk about it in church is not a bad thing,” said Erin and Chris McConnell, who attend Envision.

Hall said he understands the topic is controversial, but said it is important and he hopes addressing it will save some marriages along the way.
