Santa Ana – www.mercurynews.com – A woman who worked as a high school band director in Southern California has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for sex with a 15-year-old student.
Orange County prosecutors said in a statement Friday that Carlie Rose Attebury was ordered to register as a sex offender and was told she can’t have any contact with the boy.
Prosecutors say the 31-year-old Attebury had a yearlong affair with the boy while working at El Modena High School in Orange in 2007. They said she sent him nearly 10,000 text messages as she worked for months to attract him, and a classroom kiss eventually led to sex with the student at her home.
Attebury denied the allegations but acknowledged having sex with two other former students after they turned 18.
