from www.etonline.com – Has Charlie Sheen lost his mind, or does he know exactly what he’s doing? TLC is taking a behind-the-scenes look at the star’s epic meltdown in “Charlie Sheen: On the Brink,” in which his porn star ex-girlfriend says, “I don’t know that Charlie.”

“I have nothing negative to say about our relationship, about him as a man,” says Ginger Lynn Allen an adult film star who dated Charlie in the early ’90s. “The things that are in the media today, I try really hard to not watch, to not pay attention. I don’t know that Charlie.”

Ginger recalls Charlie to be “probably the most romantic man that I’ve ever dated,” and recounts how they went to rehab together when they were an item.

“His family did feel that there was a need, and when he and I spoke about it and discussed it, I said, ‘You know what? We can do this. Let’s do it together,'” she explains. “And so we did. He went in, got sober. We went to meetings together, stayed sober together for over a year.”

With Charlie’s headline-making partying, has he become a bad example for addicts? Mackenzie Phillips, now sober after years of substance abuse, shares her concern.

“I know that there is someone out there in a dark room with a needle and a spoon watching Charlie on Ustream,” she says. “That scares me, you know? I know what it’s like to be the person in a dark room with a needle and a spoon. And this not the stuff you need to hear.”

As for the situation that resulted in Charlie’s young twins being taken away from him, Mackenzie says, “If you’re thinking in your right mind, you wouldn’t continue this type of behavior to the point where they come and take your children away in the dark.”

NBC’s Jeff Rossen, who spent quality time interviewing Charlie, says in the documentary, “In the time I spent with him recently, I really do believe he was clean and sober. I think his biggest challenge now, as I said to him in the interview, is sustaining that long-term. Strong people relapse. When you’re an addict, you can relapse. We’re all human beings. He says that he’s made this decision in his head that he’s not going to relapse. It’s for trolls, it’s for the weak.”

“Charlie Sheen: On the Brink” airs Sunday night on TLC.
