from www.bostonherald.com – A New Hampshire sports reporter convicted of running a prostitution business in Massachusetts and intimidating a witness has been sentenced to time in state prison.
Prosecutors say Kevin Provencher was sentenced terms of 1 to 2½ years after pleading guilty Friday in Salem Superior Court to two counts of deriving support from a prostitute, two counts of procuring a person into prostitution, two counts of solicitation for prostitution and one count of witness intimidation.
Prosecutors say the 52-year Provencher, of Manchester, N.H., advertised prostitution services on Craigslist and other websites. They say he rented a hotel room in Andover, Mass., and locations in New Hampshire where the women would have sex for hire.
He was arrested in July 2009.
Provencher worked for the New Hampshire Union Leader for 23 years, but no longer works there.
