Your tongue-in-cheek remarks, bolstered by your superior writing skills and uncanny ability to impart knowledge in an articulate manner, is refreshing and invigorating.
But please don’t overlook those of us who made the decision to be known by the alcoholic beverage rather than sell it. (I say with my tongue implanted firmly in my cheek)
This coming from a grateful participant of the “golden era” who carefully selected her stage name to properly represent who she sought to be. Located in the famous Medoc wine region, just NW of Bordeaux, the vineyard of Chateau Latour continues the grand tradition of producing the finest in full bodied red wines. Whatelse for a 44DD redhead!
“Many would regard it as the leading first growth, and in the eternal quest to find “the wine of the vintage” it is frequently Latour that comes out on top.” (winedoctor.com) On top was my favorite position! The selection of a fine wine was not about snobbery, rather it was an attempt to associate as closely as possible with a product which represents quality, value and longevity.
Some can assume their name will sell the product, regardless of quality, value and longevity, I made the decision a long time ago to select quality, value and longevity to sell the name. But like any alcohol, especially wine, the taste is individual.
One man’s 1968 Chateau Latour, which was reviewed as “Outstanding body and great taste (and texture as well) this wine possesses; Opulent black and red fruit, stony character and a touch of olives, with a great acidic backbone and still some tannins in the sweet aftertaste, which lasts for some 30-40 seconds.
After a few hours, this wine gains body. Really a profound, well evolved, wine” is someone else’s box wine. Most of all, after an enjoyable and long career, I continue to believe in the quality, value and longevity and hope that I can live up to the universally accepted statement that “The wine also has, as is fitting for a first growth, a phenomenal propensity for aging well”
Your Good Friend,
Miss Charlie Latour
Gene replies: Charlie, it’s frightening that you would put so much thought into a response.
