from www.gaysocialites.com – March is not over yet, and it has been an interesting month in the adult industry, filled with news, gossip and rumors. Here a quick review of the most talked about:

-Porn stars disclosing their HIV status:

It’s the new stupid game that stirs the pot: throw a rumor about somebody being seropositive. Last week French magazine Têtu published an article online (in French) about James Jamesson falling victim to it. In February the forum Pornwikileaks (currently down, perhaps defunct) accused Jamesson of “playing with the lives of his partners on the screen”.

The rumor was apparently founded in the fact that Jamesson had shot an scene with Derek Chambers (né Derrick Burts, 24) a.k.a. “Patient ZETA”, who caused a wave of panic and had the industry paralyzed last fall after news broke of his testing positive.

After a plethora of insults and homophobic slurs, as well as threats of disclosing his real name and revealing his “status” to his family and classmates Jamesson launched a blog where he “comes clean” with different issues. Finally, on March 9th, he twitted this picture of him with his HIV test certificate, which came back negative.

Last week, Têtu posted a similar article (again, in French) about Tristan Baldwin, who after “the mindless accusations from an unmentioned model” decided to publish his negative test on twitter as well.

-Gay awards:

Last week the official list of nominations for the 2011 Grabby Awards (a.k.a. The Grabbys) was published. The Grabbys are presented annually in Chicago to honor work done in the gay pornography industry. This year’s festivities kick off on Thursday May 26th, with the award ceremony being held on Saturday May 28th. Tickets go on sale April 4th. All Grabby Weekend events are 21+ and open to fans and the general public.

Also out are the nominations for the second annual TLA Awards, which will be announced on April 15th. Voting is open to everyone. There is no limit on the number of votes you may cast. Your last chance to vote is March 31, 2011 at 11:59pm ET.

-Turk Mason retires: After 8 years around, Turk Mason announced last month: “As of March 31st 2011, I, Turk Mason aka Turk Melrose, will be leaving the Gay Adult Entertainment Industry” To say good bye to his fans he has scheduled a final live duo show for 4PM PST / 7PM EST / 11PM GMT on March 24th, 2011 with Michael Brandon. -Couples split:

Rumors circulated a couple of times about twink super couple, the ever giddy and adorable Cody Cachet (Helix Studios exclusive) and jockylicious Steffen Van, but they were only that, rumors. While never a secret, their relationship became widely public on May of last year, when Cody talked Steffen into doing a scene with him on camera.

The result was a memorable scene for Helix Studios where not only Van makes an impeccable debut (that made him and his luscious, lean, athletic body an immediate favorite), but also one where the well-hung power-top Cachet (with his boyish looks, complete with his mop of blond hair, big blue eyes and charming smile contrasting harmoniously with Van’s more frat-like, solid build) makes his bottoming debut and also proves why he is said to have the best tongue in porn. Since then the couple, in a good and perhaps rare example of decorum shared many aspects of their lives with their fans, but never gave in to any rumors, nor vented anything that should have remained private. Last Tuesday both Cody and Steffen announced simultaneously via facebook that they were “single”, without further explanation or comment (to date), nor addressing it on their twitter accounts (Cody’s, Steffen’s). Whatever the story may be, we wish them both all the best!

Another all-time favorite couple that hasn’t been exempted of rumors, were the studly Pierre Fitch and Ralph Woods. When in 2005 Fitch announced he was married to Woods the news surprised many. Later in 2007 he revealed they had separated (Fitch lists his relationship status as “divorced” on facebook), and the following year admitted on an interview with Fab Magazine that his marriage was only a marketing move. However, it seems the relationship continued, yet on uncertain terms.

When many thought they were “only casual”, fellow porn-star, and long-time friend Brent Everett announced on his blog yesterday that the couple had split. “Pierre let everyone know via Twitter then confirmed it via text to us last night. Ending their long relationship. We wish them both well. It Sucks. Both nice guys.” We immediately checked Fitch’s twitter but were unable to find anything until a few minutes ago, where he says that “the news are wrong me and Ralph woods we were not dating”.

-Watch out for: Hollywood 201 the much awaited twink gay porn reality show created by Afton Nills and The Gay Life Network. A new online reality show that provides a look into what goes on both on and off the set of one of the most innovative twink adult producers in the industry. Nills just confirmed to us that the 1st Episode will be uploaded to YouTube this week. The rest can be seen at the website hollywood201.com once it launches.
